Comics (CBZ, and image-heavy EPUBs)
Section titled “Comics (CBZ, and image-heavy EPUBs)”- Two reading modes. Paged, or a continuous vertical-scroll “webtoon” mode for tall strips. Apogee picks webtoon on its own for webtoons, and you can switch any time in the reader’s ••• menu.
- Reading direction. Left to right, or right to left for manga. It’s sticky per book and per series, so set one volume and the next opens the same way.
- Smart Zoom (menu → Page Options). Forward taps step through the page quarter by quarter in reading order, then turn the page. Right-to-left books mirror it.
- Fit modes. Fit Page, Fill Width, Fit Height, Full Fit. The Fit row cycles them.
- Colour filters. Night (invert), Sepia and Gray, in Themes & Settings. They apply to page content only and stick across books.
- Scrubbing with previews. Drag the position control and a live thumbnail of the target page appears, so you can see where you’ll land.
- On iPad with a keyboard: arrows, space, B (bookmark), and Esc all work.
Manga shipped as an EPUB can open in the comic reader. It’s a per-book toggle on the book’s page (“Open as comic”), offered only on image-heavy EPUBs.
PDF books open in a built-in reader, so there’s no downloading to another app first.
- Page resume, a page scrubber, and per-page bookmarks.
- Highlight text in five colours and three styles: highlight, underline, strikethrough. Tap an existing highlight to recolour, restyle, delete, or attach a note. Highlights sync and appear in the Notes tab.
- Close with a straight-down swipe, same as the other readers.
